How to Find Someone to Build an SDK for Your SaaS Product

Your SaaS has an API and you want an SDK so developers can integrate faster. Here’s how to find the right person or team to build it.

Agencies that list “SDK development” or “developer experience” often have shipped SDKs for other B2B products. So do dev shops that build APIs and integrations. Ask in your network: “Who built your SDK?” Referrals from other SaaS founders (especially US or Canada) often lead to teams in Chennai or elsewhere that do this routinely. Freelancers can work for a single-language, narrow scope; for multiple languages or long-term ownership, an agency is usually better.

• •Have you built an SDK that wraps a REST or GraphQL API? For which language(s)?
• •Can you show a sample (repo, docs, or package name)?
• •How do you handle versioning, errors, and docs?
• •What’s the timeline and cost for our scope (e.g. TypeScript + Python, our API spec)?
• •If they haven’t shipped at least one SDK used in production, keep looking.

Your API spec (OpenAPI/Swagger or equivalent), auth method (API key, OAuth, etc.), and target languages. Agree on scope: which languages first, which endpoints to cover, and whether docs and a sample app are included. Get a fixed or capped quote and milestones.

• •Unwilling to sign an NDA or IP assignment if you need it.
